I’m a people watcher. Although I enjoy the zoo, going to a public place and watching people interact is so much better. Today’s lunch is courtesy of Jason’s Deli and I’m sitting here at one of their outside tables blogging away on the laptop while I enjoy a New York Tuner and eavesdrop on the surrounding tables.
To my right is an upper-middle-aged couple eating lunch with a college-aged girl. My assumption: couple is the parents and girl plays the roll of “daughter.” Lunch for them is finished and Mom invites Girl to go to Lowes and then to the grocery store with her; then go home and make crepes together. Girl doesn’t sound interested and conversation goes something like this:
Girl: I can’t, I’ve got that thing I’ve gotta do tonight, remember?
Mom: Yeah I know, but that’s tonight. I figured we’d have the afternoon to spend together.
Girl: Yeah, I’m not sure though.
Mom: It’s ok if you’re busy. Dad and I can go to Lowes later, and we’ll just do the grocery store for now. Don’t you want to get the groceries and then learn how to make crepes?
—awkward silence—
Girl: You know, that just doesn’t sound super.
Isn’t that awesome?? That doesn’t sound super! Hahaha, I totally need to use that as a reason for not doing things in the future. I think it would be most appropriate when used at work:
Manager: Kane cell 1 still isn’t running and cell 13 would like to get added to the back up system. Terry has also been asking about when the drivers are going to come in. Can you take care of those things?
Kane: Honestly, that doesn’t really sound super. I think I’m gonna make some iced tea and browse YouTube all day. Buh bye.
